Use Case Scenario

Scott is a business user in ACME Corporation. Scott is responsible to monitor the messages that are transferred between BTS2015002_CustomerOrderRouting and BizTalk EDI Application. Scott will have the permission to start/stop the various artifacts of the application, in case of a problem. Since this is the only responsibility of Scott in the organization, he does not require access to any other areas of the application.

It is the duty of Bob, who is the Super user (administrator), to set up the access restrictions for Scott's user profile. To set up the access restriction, Bob must first create the user profile and set up the application level restriction for Scott. To do this, Bob must:

  1. Log in to the application
  2. Click the Settings icon at the top of the page
  3. Click User Access Policy from the left menu bar
  4. Click New to add a new user (Scott) to the system
  5. User/Group Name – Enter the user name as 'scott'
  6. Domain Name – Enter the domain name. If setting up the user on a local machine that is not a part of the domain, enter the machine name as the domain name.
  7. Is Super User – This option should not be turned on since scott is a normal user and requires restricted access to the application
  8. Environments – Select the environment for which scott needs to have access
  9. Click Next to set up the applications that scott access in the environment (if required)
  10. Select the applications BTS2015002_CustomerOrderRouting and BizTalk EDI Application that scott will have access in the environment
  11. Click Next to set up the permissions
  12. In this section, Bob needs to select the check box against Applications. This will allow scott to perform operations like Starting/Stopping the (selected) applications and its associated artifacts when there is a problem. Bob need not select any other option from the permissions page since Scott is a business user
  13. Click OK in the Add Permissions screen to create scott's information into the system
  14. Predefined User Access Profiles section lists the default access permission for different support levels. Users can also create custom profiles to Operate, Access and/or View.

Once Scott's information is available in the system and when he logs in to BizTalk360, he will only see the selected applications under the Applications section on the left menu bar. He will not have the permission to access any other part of the application.
